Site Location Applications
As the Governor-designated Water Quality Management Agency for the Cherry Creek Reservoir watershed, CCBWQA reviews site applications for domestic wastewater treatment works, including Wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs), lift stations, and interceptor sewers. CCBWQA reviews address protection of Cherry Creek Reservoir and the watershed with respect to phosphorus and nitrogen, general water quality, protection of downstream water quality to protect water supplies, and adequacy of proposed design processes and capacity to protect water quality. As required by Regulation 72, CCBWQA must report annually on approved site applications.
In 2023, no site location applications were submitted to the CCBWQA for review. The only site location activity was an approval decision letter from CDPHE on February 22, 2023 for the final design for the Pinery West Lift Station for which CCBWQA had approved in 2022 and a request for comments on a site location application amendment from Goldsmith Gulch Sanitation District for a force main replacement that didn’t require board action.
Goldsmith Gulch Sanitation District submitted an application form Section 22.10 – Amendment of Existing Lift Station Site Location approval for the existing Chenango Lift Station in-kind replacement project. The project includes the in-kind replacement of an existing outdated 4-inch force main, outdated pumps, electrical and controls equipment, valves, piping, and flow meters. There is no capacity change, and the major areas of concern specific to the Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Authority have already been addressed.
