Population Growth

Highlights:

The basin’s population has grown significantly over the past several decades, increasing over 4.5 times in the 30 years between 1990 and 2020 to over 250,000 people, with the majority of the growth in the northern portion of the watershed closest to the reservoir. As development occurs to support a growing population, both water quantity and quality conditions change, requiring mitigation to minimize adverse impacts to streams and the downstream reservoir. Through strong partnerships with local, state, and federal partners, CCBWQA has worked to moderate such impacts to the watershed and reservoir. Explore 200 years of US population density.
